A Canadian painter and illustrator, Andris Leimanis was born in Riga, Latvia. He came to Canada in 1965 and lives in Montreal.

His primary medium is oil paint. His best known subjects are Montreal street scenes. His subjects also include gardens, wilderness landscapes, genre*, and harbor views. Recently his oeuvre has expanded to included abstract works; the subjects being color, shape, line and texture.
